Dear Neighbor,

 I often get asked why I would want to leave the comfort of a successful eye care practice to run for public office.  The answer is fairly simple.  First, I have been involved with politics for 30 years, working on campaigns from both sides of the aisle including Ronald Reagan’s in the 1980’s, so I think that it is fair to say that it is in my blood.  Second, I spent over a decade in the U.S. Navy which prepared me to work well with others and gave me a strong foundation in leadership.  And lastly, as a doctor I’ve been well trained to help others by identifying a problem, then coming up with a solution to that problem.

 It is that last statement about identifying and solving problems that is the major reason as to why I’m running for the House of Delegates in the 25^th District today.  As you are well aware, our district is suffering from the outsourcing of jobs and the current economic situation.  Despite this, our representative in Richmond has done nothing to reverse this trend or increase the quality of life of our families and neighbors even though there have been opportunities to do so.  As a community we cannot afford to allow this neglect to continue.

 Friends, my campaign is not about democrat issues or republican issues, but about community issues. Issues and concerns that affect us all, regardless of party affiliation.  Your delegate should work for YOU and never put the priorities of their party above those of the people who elected them.  We live in this community together and our voices and needs have been ignored in Richmond for far too long.

 Together we can create well paying jobs in our area, we can properly take care of our returning service men and women, and we can make sure that our children have access to adequate health care and quality education.
